John Walker you are missed, memory for me
When he gave me a calf it was sick, but he allowed me to get what I needed to nurse it back to health, John was my friend, he called me his favorite, John and his wife were kind people and the 4 years I knew them it was a blast, thanks to John Walker for making a difference in this world, your passion as a dairy farmer is truly a blessing to have known John, Margaret his wife and my family time with John Walker, from 1997 till 2002, I must say I miss thoes times

So sorry to hear about my old friend John Walker.
We first met when I flew from UK to Aylmer to buy 61 Holstein heifers and a bull to found our herd of Avondale Holsteins.
This first shipment lncluded the dam of Avondale Linmack Monogram Ex, who was a noted show cow and milk producer with high components.
She was greatly admired by the British Friesian breeders who later went on to breed Holsteins.
Two years ago I was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by HolsteinUK for breeding and promotion.
I am 90 now and sold the herd 21 years ago with a thousand people present and achieved record prices.
It was awful to hear of the fire at Walker Farms.It was good to hear of neighbours helping so quickly,That’s what Farmers do.

Shelley, Jon, Judy & family,
Difficult times for you all with the passing of your Dad. I have a few memories of John over the last 30 years. A great man that everyone respected and could learned so much about life and opportunity. He has passed this on through you all, it continues through to your children and grandchildren. To all of the employees my thoughts go out to you as well. He was a solid fixture whenever you stopped by the sales barn or had the pleasure of a golf cart ride. My most recent memory is one evening stopping at Cravings and finding your Dad at the table. We asked him to come and join us and he passed on the offer. However when he was finished his meal, he made his way over to the table to sit as he wanted to know what was happening at the farm. He was genuine.

Dear Shelley, Jon, Judy and families.
Don and I were deeply distressed to read of your Dad's passing. Although we knew he wasn't in the best of health, it's a shock to learn that this giant among men is no longer among us. And he was a giant, not only in the dairy industry, but in his community, among his friends and acquaintances and most of all in hi role as the patriarch of your family.
I first got to know John and Anne through Linda. My late husband Henry and I were impressed by his kindness and down to earth outlook on life. Henry's best haircut days were those when John was also at the barber's. They had many great chats in that little establishment.
My husband Don knew John and pretty well the whole family through his work as Drainage Inspector for the Twp. of Malahide. Don's history of being a dairy farmer (also with Holstein cows) caused him to take great interest in the innovations and growth of Walker Farms. He really enjoyed catching up with John at the Cafe.
Walker Farms will never be quite the same without John there but we know that he has left his beloved enterprise in very capable hands. Our hearts go out to all of you as you navigate this massive loss in your lives. We hope to see you all in the not too distant future when we will be able to extend our sympathies in person.
