Dear Penni, Doug and Tim and families. We are so sorry to learn of Marion's passing. We will always remember the special times we would meet by chance at the coffee shop, or when Marion was grocery shopping with her friends from Springfield. These were especially fun times. It was a gift to take time, slow down, visit, catch up and share laughter, or just feel her friendship through community and family. What a lovely person; a beautiful lady who always cared about family and shared through the kindest conversations, smiles and laughter. We will miss Marion, our connection to Aunt Margaret too; two amazing ladies. We offer our condolences to each of you, her loving and dearest family. May God bless you and comfort you, peace to you.

Marion gave the greatest hugs! There was the 'welcome hug' and the 'good-bye hug', usually with a big and delicious meal in between. She entertained with ease in her lovely home. Marion came to my Kingston home a few times and was a gracious and helpful guest. When I was leaving for a year of work overseas Marion bought me the most beautiful pair of silky, striped pyjamas as a going away gift then she faithfully wrote me long and newsy letters every month! She kept me informed of how my father, her friend Ed, was doing and shared interesting and cute anecdotes. Marion was a faithful companion to my Dad, doing so much to enrich his life. I will miss my contact and friendship with Marion Kiddie. God Bless her.

Penni, Doug, Tim and families,
Mom and Dad (Donna & Ron Bearss) called me to tell me of Mrs Kiddie’s passing.
I have such fond memories whenever I think of Mrs Kiddie. Yes, I have always called your mom, Mrs Kiddie...well, except when I was really young, then it was Mrs Kitty...she use to laugh at that. When growing up, I would see Mrs Kiddie at church, then there was the excitement to go visit and have one of the many home made treats that would come out when visiting. And of course her famous Halloween fudge. It took me a few years to realize, I had to quickly consume my fudge before going home on Halloween, otherwise my dad would always pick out the fudge and eat it before I did!
Being able to view the video of photo’s brought back wonderful memories for me of Mr and Mrs Kiddie...and of course of Ed Thompson.
When ever Ed and Mrs Kiddie would come to Kingston to visit Ed’s family, it offered me the opportunity to see them as well. On one of those occasions, I had the good fortune to stand behind Mrs Kiddie in a mirror very quietly until she realized who was there... for me, when I received a hug from Mrs Kiddie, it was like having a great big hug from my “other gran”.
I know that words and stories will never really fill the huge hole that has been left in your life. I only hope that these few words will remind you how much of an impact your amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother had on this Springfield kid...who now lives in Kingston.
Thoughts and prayers to you all. Sonya Bearss

This morning I read of your mom's death in the London Paper. Immediately, my mind flipped to the many times I remember chatting with your parents when I was at grandma and grandpa Silverthorn's across the street. I also remember how well your parents :"looked "after my grandparens---.when grandpa or grandma needed anything it was call Gord and Marion.
Your mother has lived a long and active life. From the Obit it would appear that she was still in her home in Springfield up until just a few weeks ago. That is amazing. I saw her a few times in different places usually restaurants with friends and then we would catch up a bit. You will miss her greatly. My sincere sympathy as you adjust to life without mom.
Due to the COVID 19 virus these times are even more difficult to adjust. No hugs for support no time to spend together.
Memories will be important as time goes forward. Remember those very special moments with your mom.
Sincerely.
Mary Anne Silverthorn

Looking across the street will not be the same anymore without seeing Mrs Kiddie’s smiling face and waving at us. Our front porch visits, the homemade goodies, the unconditional friendship we had developed with her. Having her apart of our wedding day meant the world to us. She was a great neighbour and our children and their friends loved going over to have visits with her on her front porch. She gave us many chuckles as well as great history lessons as she had 92 yrs of knowledge that we enjoyed learning and hearing about. She brought us great joy and we will truly miss her. Our heart breaks for you all with the loss of your mom and grandmother. She was truly proud of you all. Todd and Lisa Firby, Mason, Kennedy, Tyson & Paige

I always loved walking to Auntie Marion's house from Grandpa Beach's when I was a child. My brother, Rob, would go on ahead by himself but I preferred to wait until the adults were going. I was afraid I would get lost which, if you know the geography, would have been pretty much impossible! I remember spending a holiday in Springfield, perhaps Thanksgiving or Easter, one year when I was quite young. The house seemed to be packed with people. Tim, Rob and I were in the den and Tim was playing piano. Then I decided to go to see what was happening in the kitchen. Only women were in there and they were all wearing aprons to prepare the meal. Auntie Marion went to a drawer and got out an apron for me, too. I felt like I had really been included!
I will always remember Auntie Marion's spunk, sparkle, sharp wit, and smile - and how hard it was to get her to stop talking long enough to get a picture!
I feel quite blessed to have known this beautiful human being.

Such sadness to realize that she is gone. This dear person is my Aunt Marion, my mother’s younger sister and a loving presence in my life from the very start. She, too, was very much a mother to me in many ways. She made clothes for me when a child which showed love in every stitch and detail; she bandaged my skinned knees and sprained ankles; and though she preferred Johnny Cash she’d play Elvis on the radio when I was spending the day with her. I don’t remember a cross word whenever in her care. She would let me take Tim, when he was a baby, for a ride on the main street in his baby carriage and let me proudly pretend he was mine. And she patiently endured some noisy sleepovers with Penni. Her acceptance and generosity was without reservation – she accepted and showed that same loving and caring nature toward my children and grandchildren as well as my husband who enjoyed many good-hearted humorous exchanges. Her tender care and concern and strength that she showed for my mother, especially in her final days, was one of her greatest of all gifts to our family.
Farewell, precious lady. Your lovely spirit lives to give us comfort.
