I wish to send my deepest sympathy to all of Pat's family. I was so saddened to read in our Thunder Bay paper of her passing. Pat's husband "Dick" was a member of the Port Arthur Police Force when I became their first female police officer in December of 1958. He then became an Instructor with the Ontario Police College. I was sent to the College I believe the winter of 1960 for a period of nearly 3 months. Upon my arrival, Dick insisted I come and stay with he and Pat on the week-ends. He said the College would be nearly empty as most of the students lived close enough to return to their homes. I didn't want to impose, but he insisted. I had not met Pat prior to this however but she welcomed me as if I was one of her family. She told me that their daughter "Donna" was away from home and that I could use her bedroom each week-end and said as we both had the same name "It was meant to be!" Both Pat and Dick treated me as one of their loved ones and they truly made the hardship of being away from my husband and daughter so much easier. Pat and I kept in touch for many years after my graduation and I was not aware of Dick's passing. He was a highly respected Police Officer on our Force and was an excellent Instructor at the College. Your Mom and Dad were such a very special couple - my heart goes out to all of you. Thank you Donna for sharing your bedroom!!

We will miss Pat, such a gracious presence. Pat Strawson was a friendly, fun person who for many years took an annual trip to Barbados. She was a devoted wife to Dick. They were kind and tolerant of the Strawson sisters' friends like us. .We will miss her. Peace to you Pat from your shipmate and her mate ( we recently learned that Pat's ancestors and mine emigrated on the ship the Hector from Scotland to Nova Scotia in the late 1700's) Carol Rogers and Chris Cunningham

Without suggesting that my Mum wasn’t perfect, Pat Strawson was the coolest Mum of all our classmates at school. She was unfailingly kind and supportive to all the friends of her children, and we always felt welcome in the Strawson home. She listened to our problems and gave us big hugs, and whenever we arrived at the Strawson home we were greeted with her big smile. So very sorry for the whole family. XX
