Obituary of Bob Zimmer

It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert Joseph Zimmer, announces his passing after a brave battle with cancer, on Sunday December 8th, 2019, at the age of 74. Bob passed peacefully in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his cherished family. Bob will be remembered by his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia Zimmer, his children Trevor (Joanne) and Dennis (Kelly), and his grandchildren Lauren, Brady and Noah. Bob, the eldest child of 11, will also be remembered by siblings by Ken, Patrick (Susan), Linda Callaghan (Terry), Wayne (Pat), Joe, Paul (Karen), Cathy Walker (Ron), Peter (Janice), brother-in-law Brian Hunter and many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by parents Joseph and Carol Zimmer, and siblings Sandra Hunter and Mary Zimmer.

Born on January 21, 1945 in St. Thomas, Ontario, Bob was baptized Roman Catholic and grew up on the Zimmer Farm just north of Aylmer. Bob drove a tractor at a young age, participated with milking chores and learned his farming profession from his father, Joseph Zimmer. Bob was a former volunteer firefighter with Malahide #2 Summers Corners, a member of the Aylmer Knights of Columbus, forty-year member of the Elgin Holsteins Club and belonged to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. His hobby, passion and lifelong interests were farming, his family and his dog Kaiser.  Friends may call at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home on Wednesdsay 2-4 and 7-9pm.  The funeral mass will be held at the Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church, Aylmer on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 10:00am.  Interment Queen of Peace Cemetery.
