Obituary of Edgar Walcarius

Walcarius, Edgar Camiel “Chuck” of Malahide Township passed away at his residence on Thursday, November 8, 2018 in his 88th year.  Beloved husband of 59 years to Bertha (Uzas) Walcarius.  Dear father of Rica Unger(late Pat) of Belmont, Roberta of Hamilton, Rhonda, Karen and Darren all of Aylmer.  Loving grandfather of Erica Unger-Grieve(Kris), Erin, Patrick, Emily Unger, Brayden, Bryce, Dayne and Dawson Walcarius.   Brother of Mary Rose Josten and brother-in-law of Chris Walcarius and Jennie Warus(Nick).  Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his brother Algar Walcarius and brother-in-law John Josten.  Born in Otterville, Ontario on February 6, 1931, son of the late Henry and Martha (Vandewalle) Walcarius.  Edgar was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church.  He was a member of the Tobacco Board District 5, the 3rd degree Council 4189 and 4th degree Knights of Columbus where he also served as Grand Knight and a member of the Ontario Wheat Board for 19 years where he held position of Chairman and travelled around the world.  In 2003, he was inducted into the Elgin Federation of Agriculture Hall of Fame.  He also was a trustee for the Elgin County Separate School Board for 19 years.  Edgar loved lawn bowling and won gold at the Ontario Senior Games.  He was an avid card player and an ardent hockey fan of the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs.  He was an avid cycling enthusiast.  Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 3:45p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at the Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 10:00 am.  Interment at Queen of Peace Cemetery.  Donations to Elgin Middlesex Chiefs Major Midget Hockey Team or a charity of choice would be appreciated.  Share memories or condolences at kebbelfuneralhome.com
