Goodbye Uncle Jean.
My Uncle Jean always has been and always will be my favourite French man. He also played the meanest eyebrow and moustache game anyone has ever seen! I have no idea what cologne he wore but it’s the first thing I think of when I think of him. I have smelt that smell on other men and automatically think of Uncle Jean. As a kid Aunt Eva and Uncle Jean’s house was the funnest place to be, us kids had it made there. We were free range heathens and (until diabetes reared it ugly head) had so many snacks we couldn’t eat them all!! Spending Christmas Day at Disney World in a tree house, or Christmas in Texas wouldn’t have happened without those two. I’m not sure about Dennis but that was my first time on a plane flying down to Texas. Christmas wouldn’t have been the same without them. It’s always been hard for me to think of Aunt Eva and not think of Uncle Jean. They were a package deal. As a kid I remember thinking I hope I look at the man I fall in love with like Aunt Eva looks at Uncle Jean. There is a shimmer in her eye that comes when she looks at him. I also always wanted to be loved like Uncle Jean loved Aunt Eva. I always felt like Uncle Jean knew how amazing she was so he pretty much let Aunt Eva do what she wanted. She’s a firecracker and a little head strong so I feel like that probably was his best option. Especially if Aunt Eva and Aunt Janet were teamed up on something! Their romance wasn’t always a fairy tale they had much bigger hurdles to overcome than most but they always overcame. It took over 30 years for them to get their chance to walk down the aisle and it was the fanciest shindig I’ve ever been too! Thank you Uncle Jean again for every amazing thing that happened in my life because of you. I will never forget you and I will hug every random man I run into that smells like you:) May angels lead you in
