I worked for Lionel back in the 70’s and I was thrilled when I was able to catch up with him on Facebook. His memory was amazing as he remembered details from so long ago.
I loved his funny posts and jokes and his wonderful sense of humour.
He was so proud of his family and posted accomplishments often.
It was a pleasure to know and work with Lionel and I was honoured to be called his friend. I know the family will feel his loss greatly.

My husband John and I are so sorry for your loss. We worked with Lionel for many years at Aboutown Transportation. Lionel was such a kind and friendly man. I remember many conversations with him. His favorite stories were about his grandchildren and their baseball and hockey events. He will be sadly missed. Lorraine

Lionel has always held a special place in my heart. I’ve known him since I was about 7 years old, and he live across from me. As I grew up and moved a few times, we stayed connected over Facebook, and he always had something to say on my statuses and posts. Sometimes he’s say something sweet, and sometimes he’d say something not so sweet, but honest. He was always honest and if he thought I needed to hear it, he’d tell it, and I loved that about him, it’s hard to find genuine people anymore, and he’s a real as it gets. I wish I would have visited him rather than rely on social media to update me on his latest stories and never ending sarcasm.
I thought very highly of Lionel, and think he was an excellent father, especially while doing it on his own. I always took the opportunity to wish him both a happy mother’s day & Father’s Day every year.
I will never forget him, as to me, he was more than just a neighbor, but a kind and genuine soul who made me laugh so so many times & holds a special place in my heart, and now heaven is so lucky to have him. God needed his angel back. Rest in sweetest peace, Lionel.

May God bless all of the Maracle clan with comfort in their sorrow, and times of joy and laughter as they remember Lionel's amazing life this week. I was personally grateful to Lionel for helping keep the memories of Myrtle Street alive on Facebook. There has never been a better storyteller and it was a blessing to sit with him at the kitchen table and hear them spill out one after another. Few know how to enjoy life the way he did nor to cherish family and friends the way he did. He made friends wherever he went regardless of background, station in life, religion, colour of skin... you name it. It was a pleasure to know him!
