Matlack, at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, January 19, 2006. Lewis Allen Matlack of Aylmer in his 86th year.Beloved husband of the late Hilda (Shipway) Matlack. Dear friend to Marion Silverthorn and family. Loving father of John Kenneth and wife Bertha of Woodstock, Steven and wife Penny of Aylmer and Ross of St.Thomas. Grandfather to Douglas(Leslie), Sharon(Paul), Gary(Jen) and Jim(Lori) and great-grandfather to Nicholas and Justin. Brother to Marvin(Helen), Delbert(Kay), Alma, Alice and Thelma and brother-in-law to Helen. He will be saldy missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son Gary, a brother George and sisters Margaret and Ruby. Born in Canora Sakatchewan on April 29, 1920 son of the late Walter and Mabel (Langley) Matlack. Lew came to Aylmer from Essex in 1959 and opened the LCBO on Wellington Street in Aylmer. He served in WWII in the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a Past Master of Malahide Masonic Lodge #140 af & am., Past Grand Steward of St. Thomas District Past Grand Steward of the Royal Arch Masons, and member of Mocha Temple, the Legion of Honour and the Aylmer Shrine Club. Lew was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed his family cottage at Horse Shoe Lake. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 1:00 pm. Interment, Elmdale Cemetery. Rev. Michael Wellwood, officiating. Donations to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children would be appreciated.
