Sad to read another fellow from our Corinth Public School class has passed. Long ago, but remember John as a very competitive athlete. He was always strong. At little Corinth Public School, very good at baseball. In High School, football.
Through the years, ran into John occasionally. Sometimes, at the grocery store, John and Leonard. John had a good heart and it seemed that he stood alongside to help Leonard as much as he could.
John kept in touch with people, better than most of us do. He knew 'news' of our old classmates and loved to share.

I remember working for John when I was about 13 years old. My parents owned the corner store in Mt. Salem at the time and John came in one day and asked if we kids would like to help him out that summer.
He was good to work for and had a quirky sense of humour. He would ask us the strangest questions just to see if (as he explained it) we were learning what we should in school. We harvested peppers, squash, and cucumbers and helped him pack them up so he could take them to market.
One day when only my brother was working with him he taught him a rather unappropriate song which my brother, being only 10 at the time, came home singing at the top of his voice. Some of you may know the Nellie Cartwright song, I presume? My brother, of course, thought it was hilarious! We all have a good laugh about it now.
John will be missed. Rest in peace, John

John was a good neighbour and a good friend. We always had an annual visit over the fence while planting corn. We also remember him taking our daughter and some other neighbourhood kids to a hockey game in London years ago. Judy and Dave Mennill

Most sincere condolences on John's passing - the various Farmer's Markets and the No Frills will never be quite the same!
