Obituary of Lorne Ray
Ray, Lorne Clarence of Aylmer passed away at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 in his 99th year. Beloved husband of 68 years of the late Beaulah Ray (2008). Loving father of Beatrice and partner Al of St. Thomas. Dear grandfather of John and Olivera, Jay and Daynika, Julie and Stu. Great-grandfather of John, Ian, Marcus, Lachlan, Karsten, Connor, Brandon, Petar and Irina. Lorne treasured the love of Hannah, Martina and Shannon over the years. Born in London Ontario on June 8, 1919, son of the late Frederick and Mary Jane "Mayme" (Longworth) Ray. Lorne was the last of six siblings, Walter "Bud"(1993), Fred Jr.(1978), Loreen(1922), Dorothy Greenwood(1985) and Donald(1981). Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. He drove transport for 10 years for 3 different companies Tandy, Schell and Direct. During the WWII he worked at Central Air Craft for 4 years. Lorne worked at London Street Railway for 10 years. He retired from the LCBO after 31 years of service. Lorne was "Champagne Man" XM44 346 with the Aylmer Modulators CB Club. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm where the funeral service will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment, Aylmer Cemetery.
