Nora Evelyn Hoshal
Her life's journey completed, Evelyn passed away peacefully at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, April 2nd, 2009 with her family at her side.
Beloved wife of the late Gordon Hoshal (1990), and dear mother of Diana and husband Jim Brethour of Burlington. Sister-in-law of Grace Hoshal of Aylmer. Predeceased by a daughter Wendy (1968), and brothers-in-law Walter and Donald Hoshal, and sister-in-law Shirley Hoshal. Born in London, Ontario on March 31st, 1919 to the late Albert Edward and Norah (Kilpatrick) Thompson.
Evelyn was a life-long resident of Springfield and had a keen interest in the history of her community and its preservation. It was not uncommon for people from all parts of the world seeking information about their Springfield ancestors to call on her for help in their search. She was always happy to delve into her genealogy records and provide them with clues to their past. She was a member of St. John's United Church where she sang in the choir and would play the piano and organ on occasion. She was a member of the U.C.W. and the Women's Institute, where she maintained the Tweedsmuir History book until the Springfield Chapter disbanded in 1998. She was a volunteer for twenty-five years at the Aylmer Museum.
Special thanks to Dr. David Graham and the staff at Terrace Lodge, where Evelyn had resided since 2002, for their wonderful care and kindness.
Visitation at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, 119 Talbot Street East, Aylmer, on Sunday, April 5th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 6th at 11:00 am. Interment, Springfield Cemetary, with a reception to follow in St. John's United Church Hall, Springfield.
