Johnston, Marion. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marion Edna Johnston (nee Van Patter) on Sunday July 17, 2016 at her residence, Earls Court Village, London. In her 99th year. Loving mother of Donna Schyff (John) of New Hamburg, Jo-Anne Harris (Ken) of Ottawa and Van Johnston (Peggy) of St.Thomas. Fondly remembered her grandchildren Chris(Angela), Corri(Dan), Melissa(Don), Lauren and Tyson and seven great grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers Donald, George, and Gerald Van Patter and a sister Frances Hindmarsh. Born in Malahide Township on Octber 6, 1917, daughter of the George and Isabel (McMillan) Van Patter. Marion attended the McDonald Institute at the (now) University of Guelph then worked at the Carnation Co. Lab before her marriage. Marion lived most of her life in Aylmer and was known as an avid gardener and a seamstress who sewed beautifully. She volunteered for the Aylmer Fair Board , Meals on Wheels and over the years dabbled in oil painting and helped collect data for the Van Patter family archives. Her greatest enjoyment was travelling extensively with Francis, bird watching and the many friends she met who shared this hobby. In her words "I' had a great life" Cremation has taken place with private interment in Aylmer Cemetery. Donations to Meals on Wheels would be appreciated.
