Obituary of Douglas Durdle
Durdle, Douglas at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday, June 20, 2012. Douglas Durdle of Aylmer in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Leta (Robbins) Durdle and the late Dorothy Durdle. Dear brother of Rena Sears(Bud) and Jean Walsh. Also survived by a sister-in-law Doris Durdle, step-children Barb Rodgers(Rick) and Dave Robbins(Sue), grandchildren Joanne(Greg), Katie, Jamie(Judy) and Steven, great grandchildren Colton, Haley and Gavin and a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Jack, Glenn and James. Born in Kingsmill on June 9, 1925 son of the late James and Gladys (Knott) Durdle. Doug worked for the railroad for over 40 years and he was active in harness racing for most of his life. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy in WWII and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service was held on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Orwell Cemetery. Donations to the Cancer Society would be appreciated.
