Obituary of John Smith

Smith, John Rowland of Aylmer passed away at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Monday January 11, 2016 in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Marg (Nelson) Smith. Dear father of Deb Latour, Ed Smith(Carol), Ron Smith(Liz), Barry Smith(Kelly) and step-father of Deb Cassis-Zrini, Mike Cassis and Darryl Cassis(Ruth). Dear brother of Marion Wyatt, Fred Smith(Lynda), Wayne Smith(Deb), Evelyn Metler(Chuck), Nancy Todd(Jiggs) and Judy Cook. Brother-in-law of Betty Smith and Bonnie Smith. Also survived by 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sons Jim Smith(2001) and John Smith(2012), sisters Shirley Smith, Helen Noble and Virginia Doyle, brothers Walter, Jim and Ron Smith. Born in Dorchester, Ontario on December 6, 1934 son of the late Reginald and Irene(Rowse) Smith. John operated J& M Sports. He was a driver and welder with Superior Propane. John served in the Royal Canadian Army in London and was a member of Col. Talbot Branch 81 of the Royal Canadian Legion for 51 years. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm where the funeral service will be held on Thursday January 14, 2016 at 11:00 am. Legion service 6:45 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
