Obituary of Jean Godsoe

Jean Godsoe (nee Pogue) passed away peacefully on December 3, 2015, in her 84th year. Born on March 7, 1932 to Helen and Frederick Pogue, Jean was raised in a large family in Dongola, Ontario. Jean and her late husband, Ken, raised their family in Belmont where she was an active member of the community. After retiring from managing Northern Telecom's Credit Union, Jean enjoyed many afternoons playing her favourite game, bridge. She was known for her amazing pies and the hundreds of afghans she made and donated to local nursing homes. Jean's last few years were brightened by a caring and committed companion, Ken Purdon. She spent many an afternoon sharing time with a special aunt, Audrey Stephenson of Aylmer, Ontario. Remaining to honour her memory are her well loved children Darlene Irwin (Brad), Janice Snell (Bill), Barbara, Gloria Rilett (Frank) and Todd. Her seven grandchildren have an abundance of precious memories and know that they held a special place in her heart. Grandma will be missed but remembered always by Melissa, Amanda (Richard), Pamela (Michelle), David, Christina, Ryan and Anna and four great grandchildren Mayim, Carter, Mackenzie and Emory. Jean was the eldest daughter in a family of ten children, she will be remembered by her sister, Freda Buchanan (Larry) and her brother, Clare (Helen). Predeceased by her brothers Johnnie, Roy, Frank, Fred, Ray, Freeman and Keith, Jean will be missed by many in the Pogue and Floto families. The family is grateful for the care from the kind staff of the Dorchester VON Adult Day Program, Highview Residences in London, and Woodingford Lodge in Ingersoll. Friends will be received at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Monday, December 7th from 7 9 pm.
