Thoonen, peacefully at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Gerardus "Jerry" Thoonen of R.R.4, Aylmer in his 75th year. Beloved husband of Elizabeth "Liz" (Bouma) Thoonen. Dear father of Connie Cameron and husband Doug of Waterloo, Karen Rowe and husband Brian of London, Mark Thoonen and wife Lisa of Aylmer and Leon Thoonen and wife Amanda of Aylmer. Loving Opa of Matthew, Samantha, Taylor, Tanner, Rebecca, Jenna and Andrew. Brother of Joke Vierboom, Maria Thoonen, Anny Kuip and husband Carel. Brother-in-law of Tonny Thoonen, Edna Thoonen, Elsie Thoonen. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Tonnie, Marius and Hank Thoonen. Born in Horssen, The Netherlands on September 20, 1934 son of the late Hendrikus and Hendrika (Kocken) Thoonen. Jerry was a farmer all his life, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Aylmer Fair Board. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Thursday 7-9 and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers Thursday at 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church on Saturday September 27, 2008 at 11:00 am. Interment, Queen of Peace Cemetery. Father Joseph Nevett, officiating.
