Obituary of Olive Sheppard

Olive Sheppard Longtime Aylmer resident Olive Marion Sheppard passed away having lived a full life of 100 years on Friday, October 16, 2015 at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. Olive was born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan to parents Wheeler Jackson and Sarah Cynthia Edwards, immigrants from England and Wales. Olive married lifetime Aylmer resident Gordon Sheppard in 1933 and raised three children, June, William and Robert. Earlier in her life, Olive operated Lindsay's Drug Store for many years, was a member of the Baptist Church Women's Institute, volunteered at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, participated in a bible study group and for many years provided transportation for others to those activities. Olive also enjoyed many hobbies including music (accordion), art, shell, leather work and flowers. One of her works painted on plywood appeared on the carnation milk company roof (John St. N) for many years at Christmas; showing Santa Claus's sled and reindeers leaving a house rooftop. Olive is predeceased by husband Gordon and brothers Wallace, Wyllis, son-in-law William Robinson, She is remembered by siblings Hazel, Wesley, Ivy and Patsy; daughter June, son William and wife Margaret, son Robert and wife Gloria; grandchildren Deb, Darlene, Roger, Jennifer, Dean, Daryl, Frank and Terry; fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Monday, Oct. 19 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. Interment, Aylmer Cemetery.
