Obituary of Mac McBurnie
McBurnie, William Connell "Mac" 75, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital with family by his side on Sunday, October 4, 2015. Born in Dumfries, Scotland in 1939, and predeceased by his parents, Alexander Connell McBurnie and Isabella McDowell McBurnie (nee Hogarth). Mac is survived by his loving wife Janice (Havens) McBurnie, daughter Margo McBurnie (Steve Hampson) and granddaughter Shaylee, as well as stepchildren, Virginia Brown-Bowers (Richard) and Wayne Brown (Rachael). Also survived by his sister Anne Caines (John) and brothers Walter Hogarth (Pat) and Scott McBurnie (Lynne) all of England, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mac had an illustrious career in policing spanning England, Bermuda and Canada, and upon his retirement was an Instructor at the Ontario Police College. During his retirement, he has enjoyed playing the keyboard, working as a personal trainer, kayaking, and traveling.
Mac loved to tell a story and make people laugh. He leaves his family and friends with many great memories. The funeral service will be held at Kebbel's Funeral Home, Aylmer on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 11 a.m. Visitation Tuesday Oct.13, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Donations to the VON or STEGH Building Fund appreciated.
