Obituary of Stanley Klachan

Klachan, Stanley Paul passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 22, 2012 in his 84th year. Stan is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce and his children Dave and Joan Klachan, John (Yonko) Klachan and Theresa Klachan and grandchildren Chris, Tania, Paul (The Lad) and Savanah. Stan was predeceased by his son Frank (1982). Survived by a brother Steve Klachan (Mary Ellen), sisters Helen Kelly (Cy), Marg Moylan (John) and Jean Coyne. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born in Essex, Ontario, Stan moved to the home farm in Malahide Township approximately 76 years ago and went on to see four generations of Klachans live on the farm. Stan graduated from the University of Guelph (OAC) in 1953. Following graduation, Stan worked in the mines in Blind River where he met his bride Joyce Fitzgerald working in the local bank. Stan would go on to take over the family farm where he was a successful tobacco farmer for many years supporting tobacco research. Stan continued his support over the 60 years to his alma mater, the University of Guelph and spent many hours contributing to his community including Aylmer Skating Club, Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Elgin Federation of Agriculture and Canadian Blood Services. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, November 24 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow with burial in Queen of Peace Cemetery.
