Obituary of Chris Pearson

Chris Pearson At Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Sunday, November 18, 2012. Christopher Ellis Pearson of Springfield in his 90th year. Loving husband of the late Mary (Bagnall) Pearson (2005). Cherished father of Rosemary and husband George Kennedy, Janice and husband Doug McCallum, and Kelly Pearson, all of the Springfield area. Proud grandfather and great grandfather to Marcie & Matthew Tenk and their daughter Jordan; Erin & Justin Chute and their children Madison and Owen; and Christopher & Heather McCallum and their children Jackson and Lucas. Beloved brother to Ronald Pearson, Springfield. Also survived by sister in law Janet Wood of London and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Gerald (2010), sister-in-law Kay Matthews (2005), sister-in-law Marie Pearson (2002) and nephew Kevin Pearson (2000). Born east of St Thomas in a log cabin on Highway 3 on January 5, 1923, the eldest son of the late Ellis and Violet (Smith) Pearson. He lived all his life in the East Elgin area, settling a mile east of Springfield in 1945. Wanting to follow in his father's footsteps, farming was his occupation of choice. He trucked livestock to the Talbotville Sales Barn for many years until his forced retirement in 1974. He spent the last twenty seven summers on a John Deere tractor ensuring the lawns of numerous Springfield residents were groomed to perfection. Chris believed in giving back to his community and served as a member of the Springfield School Board in the 1960's, a dedicated council member for Malahide Township in the late 1960's and early 1970's, a member of the former Springfield Lions Club, and a recently transferred member of the St Thomas Lions. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Wednesday, November 21 from 10:00 a.m to 11:30 a.m. where the funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Special thanks to the Red Cross homecare workers and the doctors, nurses and staff at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital for their excellent care. Extra special thanks to Dr Richard Dalby (retired) and Dr Lisa Dalby who kept Dad going for the past 38 years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
