Obituary of Irene Rawlins

Rawlins, Irene passed away peacefully at Valleyview Home on Monday, May 6, 2024 in her 102nd year. Beloved wife of the late Arthur Rawlins(1988). Cherished mother of Carol(Dominic) Del Grosso and mother-in-law of Pam Rawlins. She is predeceased by her son William “Bill”(2024) as well as her brother James, and sister Ethel Powers(Leonard). Irene was born in Hamilton to the late Philip and Lillian Addley.

Irene’s life was a mosaic of beautiful moments with family and friends, and challenges that were overcome with grace and strength. Irene was the administrator for the family business, Rawlins Paving Ltd., Aylmer and an indispensable partner to her husband. Later, she played a crucial role as Treasurer in her condominium building and enjoyed organizing many social events. Playing cards, doing large puzzles and learning Thai Chi in her late 70’s were just some of her passions. Genealogy captured her interest, and she has left her family with information that will be enjoyed for generations. The greatest joy in her life was her family. For our part, we enjoyed her great sense of humour, and her unfailing support and encouragement.

Irene’s absence will be keenly felt by her adoring grandchildren: Rhonda Bogart(Tim), Karen Ryckman(Mark), Dean Rawlins(Angela), Paul Del Grosso(Richelle), Julia Del Grosso(Mathew) and Christopher Del Grosso. In addition, she will be missed by her loving great-grandchildren: Evan(Whitney), Ashley(Kyle), Aaron(Shelby), Drew(Callea), Logan(Elisha), Luca and Alessia. Irene was also a loving great-great grandmother to 8 little ones: Halle, Jax, Kallum, Nash, Delaney, Jackson, Hudson and Lileigh. She will be missed by a number of nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Aylmer Cemetery. Donations to Valleyview Home Auxiliary would be appreciated. Share memories or condolences at kebbelfuneralhome.com
