Sheils, James “Jim” Robert passed away peacefully with his family by his side at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Carol(Shackelton) Sheils for 63 years. Dear father of Randy Sheils(Toni) and Brenda Ackworth(Les). Father-in-law of Garry Hansford. Predeceased by his daughter Barbara Hansford(2023). Loving grandfather of Tyler, Rob(Kayleigh), Kelsie, Brittany, Jessica, Kayla(Max) and Jason(Alex). Great-grandfather of Tyson, Raya, Brayden, Ashton and Aubree. Brother of Glenn Sheils and brother-in-law of Linda Brower, Wanda Derewlany(Andy), Norma Shackelton and Anne Ker. He will be missed by a number of nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his sisters-in-law Betty Dance, Jean Putnam and brothers-in-law Bill, Jerry and Cliff Shackelton. Born in London, Ontario on January 18, 1940, son of the late Ronald and Beatrice(Rawlings) Sheils. Jim was a mechanic and Jim and Carol owned and operated the Mapleton Garage for 42 years. He was a member of the Kettle Valley Pioneers and served on South Dorchester council for many years. He enjoyed harvesting maple syrup and cutting wood with David Stover. Visitation will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Dorchester Union Cemetery.
