Terry's Memorial Service
Obituary of Terry O'Brien
Surrounded by the beauty he loved and the people who meant the world to him, Terry Patrick O’Brien passed away suddenly on April 17, 2026, in Grand Cayman, in his 62nd year.
Born on April 28, 1964, in St. Thomas, Ontario, Terry was the beloved son of the late Robert and Donna (Nesbitt) O’Brien. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Theresa, and his son Quinn O’Brien, along with Quinn’s wife Cassandra and the joyful anticipation of Terry’s first grandchild, expected in August 2026.
Terry was a proud and loving stepfather to Robert Shearon, Mike Shearon (Cindy), Nick Shearon (Jeanine), Rick Shearon (Trina Jensen), and Allen Meharg. He will be deeply missed by his stepgrandchildren Carley, Austin, Greyson, Rose, Lily, Reed, and Everett, all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.
He is lovingly remembered by his siblings Todd O’Brien (Lori) and Shelly Smith (Gordon Wolfe), and forever cherished by his nieces and nephews Lexi Reed (Greg), Delayna Smith (Tyler Eckert), Hudson Smith (Meghan Wild-Denys), and Bennett Smith (Emma Ducharme). Terry also held a special place in the hearts of his aunt and uncle Austin and Marilyn O’Brien, and Joyce Nesbitt.
Terry was predeceased by his brother Timmy O’Brien, his brother-in-law Chris Smith, and many dear aunts and uncles from the O’Brien and Nesbitt families.
Terry shared an unbreakable bond with his beloved “furbabies” Mia, Izzy, Oreo, and Cheese. Who, along with Theresa, were at the center of his world. His love for animals was undeniable, and together, Terry and Theresa dedicated their time and hearts to helping animals in need.
Known as a “celebrity in his own right,” Terry had a way of lighting up every room he entered. His bright smile, infectious laughter, and natural warmth made it easy for anyone to feel comfortable around him. Strangers quickly became friends, and friends became family. His sense of humor was unmatched, perfectly timed, genuine, and often exactly what was needed in any moment.
Terry was a man of quiet generosity and deep compassion. Whether it was helping a neighbor with yard work, clearing snow, tending a garden, or simply being there when someone needed support, he gave freely without ever seeking recognition. He found joy in helping others and took pride in caring for those around him.
Above all, Terry was an incredible husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, neighbor, and co-worker. He loved deeply, lived fully, and left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Terry’s life at a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Waterworks Park (Lily Pond Pavilion), 2 South Edgeware Road, St. Thomas, Ontario, from 1:00–4:00 p.m., with Words of Remembrance at 1:30 p.m. In honour of Terry’s vibrant spirit, guests are encouraged to wear their favourite sports team apparel or a Hawaiian shirt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a pet rescue of your choice. A donation jar will also be available at the service, with proceeds supporting several animal rescues that were close to Terry and Theresa’s hearts.
Theresa, Quinn, Cassandra, and family extend their deepest gratitude to the emergency and service providers in Grand Cayman, H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, and the overwhelming compassion shown by family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
Terry’s care has been entrusted to H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, 119 Talbot Street East, Aylmer, Ontario.
“Terry’s passing leaves a heartache that no one can heal, his love leaves a memory that no one can steal”.......until we meet again.
