John Krahn of Aylmer passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at the Barrie Family Hospice of Elgin, St. Thomas, on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the age of 85.
Beloved husband of Maria (Neufeld) Krahn. Cherished father of Tina Loewen (Rick) of St. Thomas, Helena Nancekievill (Steve) of Gravenhurst, Marie Dyck (David) of Aylmer, Peter Krahn (Susie) of Aylmer, John Krahn (Judy) of Eden, Nettie Musselman (Dave) of South Carolina, Margaret Berg (Abe) of Straffordville, Dave Krahn (Lorie) of North Carolina, Lisa Kuepfer (Dannie) of Straffordville, George Krahn (Cathy) of South Carolina, and Anne Bergen (Peter) of Tillsonburg.
He will be lovingly remembered by his 41 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, his brothers Jake and Cornelius, and many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his infant son Bennie, grandsons Randy and Kurtis, brothers Peter, David, Ben, Franz, and George, and sisters Katharina and Aganetha.
Born in Chihuahua, Mexico on August 16, 1940, John was the son of the late Peter and Katherina (Rempel) Krahn. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and took great pride in his work -whether combining, operating a dozer, logging, or driving truck.
John will be remembered as a “happy‑go‑lucky” soul, a man who always wore a smile and was known for his gentle, kind nature. He truly was a gentle giant. His greatest joy came from his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held at the Bradley Street Church of God, Aylmer on Monday from 4-7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Bradley Street Church of God, Aylmer on Tuesday February 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Donations to the Barrie Family Hospice of Elgin would be appreciated.
