Erik was like a brother to me throughout my teen years in Timmins. He had an amazing sense of humour, and I was in synch with that humour. In High School, he would pass notes to me in class that would cause me to burst out laughing and often getting me called out by the teacher while Erik sat there looking innocent. We sang together in the church choir at the Timmins Free Methodist Church. We played instruments together in the school band, Erik playing the saxophone, me playing the oboe. We travelled together with the school band thoroughly enjoying our mischief throughout those trips. Erik drove me and Donna, now my wife of 56 years, in the back of his pick up truck to Toronto in 1967. By doing so, he brought Donna and I together bringing about our family of two kids, now middle age adults. Dear Helen, Erik was a special and unique individual. I am grateful to God for His sharing of Erik’s friendship with me over these years and I share a portion of the loss you are feeling. God reminds us:
“Weeping may endure for the night but joy cometh in the morning.”
Standing with you throughout this process, heart to heart, shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand….. Love to you always, Alex and Donna Parachin.
