Johnny and Jeanne were and will remain Aylmer icons. Two of the most compassionate and caring people. So many memories of them and all of us at the Capitol Cafe
Even driving down the main street honking and waving at Johnny as he ventured to the nearest grocery store with his cart. Rest in peace Johnny ... you will not be forgotten. My condolences to you Judy and the entire family.

Sending our sympathy to you and your family Judy in the loss of your dad…..I have only fond memories of both Jeannie and Johnny and the Capital Cafe. Your parents were kind and helpful people who made working with them a pleasure. Each shift with you and Deb ended with either coconut cream pie or French fries served by Johnny with a smile and his thanks. They will always be remembered Judy……xo

I have a memory that I found very touching. Irma Koleada was a very good friend of Johnny, Jeanne and Judy. At the closing of Irma’s funeral, which Norman had conducted, this lovely family stood at the casket and, in unison, bowed. A very kind tribute to their friend. My deepest condolences to the family.

Condolences to Johnny’s family - they were so incredibly kind to our brother Greg throughout the years - Greg would go into the restaurant for his Diet Coke - fry’s and gravy and Johnny would let him run up a tab -Greg would go in at the end of the month when he got his disability cheque and pay up in full - this went on for years - you remember kindness like that forever - may he rest in peace

Aylmer has lost a true Icon today.
Johnny, Jeanne, and the Capitol Cafe were a huge part of my life growing up in Aylmer. I visited the restaurant regularly. Johnny always asked how my Grandma was doing. He never closed. His work ethic and personality were an inspiration to us all. The food was fantastic and affordable, and Johnny always made me feel welcome. I used to see him walk to the market with his cart every Tuesday. The picture I am sharing was taken on his last day before he closed shop for good. Aylmer was never the same to me after the Capitol closed. To this day, my friend in the picture and I still reminisce about Johnny and the Capitol. I remember the Cow on display that is older than me. I wonder what happened to that cow? I gave him a Christmas cactus one year from a nursery I worked at. He kept that Cactus until the day he closed. I loved the poem that Dr. Sinclair shared. I hope someone can post it.
I can't believe you are gone, you will never be forgotten.
My condolences to Johnny's family, whom I have only seen in the pictures proudly displayed and centred by the counter.

This is truly an end of an era for our family. We were truly saddened to hear of Johnny's passing. He is remembered by three generations of our family as an exceptionally wonderful and kind man. We count it a blessing to call Johnny and his family friends. We were honoured to be served and loved for all those decades at
the Capital Cafe...by a man who clearly loved what he did!
In loving memory,
Kirk and June Elley and family
