Obituary of Frank de Ryk

de Ryk, Frank - Our dad was doing his best to come home, but he passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a battle with Parkinson's at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Thursday August 7, 2025 at 90 years of age.

Beloved husband of the late Bonnie de Ryk  (nee Mitchell). Loving father of Michelle, Tammi, Tony (Jenn), Jamie (Suzie), and Gina (Stephanie). Treasured Papa of Keelin (Matt), Connor, Emma, Tao, Gradin and Lennox. Dad was blessed to be a Great-Papa of Henry and Thomas John.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Frank is the last of his siblings to pass away and he now joins them all in heaven sharing stories and perhaps even having a beer.  He will be sadly missed by Ron Allen and Sandra Maracle-Harder.

Frank’s journey began in Holland and blossomed into a life well-lived in Aylmer. Even in his final moments, his wit came through at times, offering us smiles when we needed them most. As the former owner of the Gulf Station in Aylmer, Frank was known for his dedication to community and service. He was a devoted volunteer with the Aylmer Hornets and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. Frank had a magical touch—there was little he couldn’t repair—and his garden thrived under his care. We will forever cherish his spirit, his commitment to family, and the countless ways he made our lives brighter every single day.

Frank is resting at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church, Aylmer on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 10:00  a.m.  Cremation to follow. Dad will be laid to rest at a later date with our mom at the Aylmer Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation, 5th Floor. Share memories or condolences online at kebbelfuneralhome.com
