Obituary of Helena Friesen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helena Friesen, who departed this life surrounded by the love of her family. Helena was born on August 2, 1952, in Durango, Mexico, and lived a life full of strength and devotion.

On June 18, 1972, she married her lifelong love, Cornelius Friesen, beginning a journey of more than five decades marked by unwavering commitment and deep affection. Helena was predeceased by her parents Johan and Margaretha Harms, her brother George Harms and her infant granddaughter, Rachael Lynn Friesen.

Helena was the cherished mother of:

• John Friesen (Cindy)

• Jamie Friesen (Melissa)

• Bob Friesen

• Sara Lawlor (Matthew)

• David Friesen (Alannah)

Her greatest joy came from her role as Nana, and she will be lovingly remembered by her many grandchildren: Selena (Justin), Robin, Alex (Shalyn), Simon, Emily Marie (Dakota), Teresa Ann, Emily Grace, Caitlyn, Christopher, Quintin, Colin, Carter, Gracie Lynn, Katie Lynn, Julia Hope, Alexis, Tiara, Jamie Audrey, Gwen, and Olivia.

Helena’s legacy continues through her treasured great-grandchildren: Nolan, Lorenzo, Emilia, Jaxon, and Wyatt. She will be remembered lovingly by her brothers and sisters, and many other family members. Helena’s strength touched every life she encountered. Her love was fierce and her hugs unforgettable.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience and strength that will continue to inspire generations to come. While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the life she lived and the deep impact she had on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Visitation will be held at the H.A.
