My heart hurts for all of you. I enjoyed every minute caring for your Mom, many a song, story, laugh and tear was shared between us over the years. Your dad must have decided to take his toe off the door keeping her out Rick. She always giggled about that. I admired the way you all cared for her. God bless her

Sending condolences to the entire Cerna family. She was a great lady. She would always ask how we were and especially our son Andrew. The story here... out for Halloween when Andrew was small. We came across Sylvia's house (didn't know it was at the time). As soon as she opened the door, Andrew ran up the steps and gave her a big hug. He never met her before. We couldn't figure out why he did this but I am so glad he did because it so made her day. What a great memory we all shared.

Aunt Sylvia was a true Proverbs 31 woman and will be missed. She definitely lived life to the fullest and was always extremely kind to me when my family would visit from “the states”. She was a fantastic cook and awesome host, while more than holding her own against the strong Hungarian men in her life.
Revelations 21:4 gives confidence that she is in a place with no more sorrow or pain. My thoughts and prayers are with her family

My sincere sympathy to Sylvia's family in the loss of your Mom. I have many fond memories of Sylvia participating in events at the Calton Hall, Women's Institute with the group of ladies, and many family visits at our home when I was little. I can still hear her cheerful voice, and remember her happy smile. She was a hard worker and a bundle of energy.
My thoughts, best wishes, and prayers for each of you as you go through this difficult time of loss.

Thank you for being my 4H leader for many years.
I can still hear Mrs Cerna’s voice ‘oh honey’ when I would mess up something or not do it completely off the books.
This magnificent women thought me every thing from baking bread, to what utensils to use at fine dining, to deboning a chicken.
From all the young kids who grew up under your guidance and leadership and are know adults, thank you. You will live on in our stories and reteaching for what you have taught us all. Much love

Condolences to Sylvia’s family - I was present when the Catholic League presented Sylvia with her 70 year membership pin and recently she was presented with her 75th pin - she was indeed happy to have met these milestone achievements - as stated she was an original charter member- the last of this outstanding group of women - they were all busy raising their families however coming together to support our Church - she was a force to be reckoned with and it was honour to have known her and worked along side of her at my beginning and introduction into the CWL - rest in piece Sylvia

My sincere condolences to all of the Cerna family. I am sure your heartfelt memories will keep her close in the days ahead. Elizabeth and I went to High School at East Elgin together, and I met your Mother on several occasions. She was such a fun, loving, delightful soul. My Mother (Hazel Graves) who passed away in 2015 was friends with her and enjoyed her company, as they were both life long members of the Calton Women’s Institute. Again, my thoughts are with the entire family…Donna Gallo (Graves)
