Obituary of Bert Bouma

Albertus (Bert) Petrus Antonius Bouma of Aylmer passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Aylmer Retirement Residence in his 91st year on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Beloved brother of Elizabeth (Liz) Thoonen (the late Jerry Thoonen) of Aylmer and brother-in-law of John Nooren of St Thomas. Dear Uncle to his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Petrus (Peter) Bouma (the late Roseann) of St Thomas, sister Aleida Nooren (John) of St Thomas and dear friend Mary Rose Terry of Aylmer. Bert was born in Hoogland, Netherlands on August 1st, 1934, son of the late Felix and Aleida (Kleinhoven) Bouma. He came to Canada in 1949 with his family, eventually settling in Aylmer where he managed the farm with his parents. In his later years, Bert enjoyed spending time with his many friends honing his skills at lawn bowling and playing cards especially Euchre and Bid Euchre. He became a very skilled and competitive player. He was proud of his Dutch heritage and shared many stories of his homeland. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be held at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer, on Sunday, April 20, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery.
